Wilbert Rodenhuis is professor of Safety and Risk Management at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede (The Netherlands). He is one the forerunners of the higher professional education in safety and security in the Netherlands that started in the early 1990s. His research group and students work in two research programmes: a. safe urban design (CPTED) and b. external safety. Two specializing minor studies are open to bachelor students: Safe Urban Design and Physical Safety.
He is member of the board of the Dutch Designing Out Crime Association and member of the Twente Safety and Security (TSS) initiative. He studied Political Science and Economics at the University of Amsterdam. He worked at the University of Twente and the Business Management Group. He was programm manager for the Knowledge Institute for the Urban Society in the province of Overijssel
