Dr.Günter Stummvoll (Dr.Phil) has studied architecture at the Technical University in Vienna and sociology at the University of Vienna and at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Subsequently, he has taken post-graduate training in social science at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna, where he also worked as research assistant. Between 2005 and 2008 Günter Stummvoll has worked as a professional researcher at the Institute for the Sociology of Law and Criminology (IRKS) in Vienna. In 2008 he was awarded a 2-year Marie Curie Fellowship for a comprehensive study of ‘European norms and standards in design-led crime prevention’ and was based at the Centre for Criminological Research at Keele University in the United Kingdom. From Sept. 2010 – Jan. 2012 Günter Stummvoll was employed at the Department for Building and Environment at Danube-University Krems, Austria, where he conducted research and taught urban sociology and criminology. He is currently teaching academic courses on “deviance and social control” at Vienna University and “design-led security management” and “research methodology” at Danube University Krems, Austria.
