Dr. Miguel Saraiva is a Civil Engineer, with a doctoral degree on Urban Planning and Environment, who works as an Invited Assistant Professor and researcher at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto – Department of Geography. As an integrated member of CEGOT (Centre of Studies on Geography and Spatial Planning), and of CITTA (Research Centre for Territory, Transports and Environment) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, and former collaborator of the Universities of Lisbon and Aveiro, he has worked, published and participated in national and international projects in various areas which he has constantly entwined: crime-prevention, commerce, urban-morphology, accessibility through active travel, environmental amenity’s optimization and most recently housing in a time of crisis. He is the Portuguese representative in COST ACTION TU1203 ‘Crime Prevention through Urban Design and Planning’.
